a Twixtmas walk in Nine Elms

A view across part of Nine eElms Park towards Vauxhall. IN the foreground is a watery area with aquatic plants. Beyond that, wintry trees and aChristmas tree, and on either side tall glass and steel buildings

I’ve missed walking around the Nine Elms area, checking out the latest pieces of the huge redevelopment jigsaw slowly being pieced together. So I’ve decided to lead my Open Spaces in Nine Elms walk one last time this year, and what better time than Twixtmas, that quiet(ish) period betwixt Christmas and New Year.

I took a brisk walk around the area this afternoon and noticed quite a few changes, including further sections of Nine Elms Park taking shape. Autumnal colours are still strong, and I was delighted to spot a wagtail hopping along beside me at one point as I strode up Nine Elms Lane.

The walk will explore the area’s new developments and open spaces, and uncover Nine Elms’ rich horticultural and industrial history. I’ve scheduled the walk for Saturday 30th December, starting at 11a.m. from Nine Elms tube station. The walk will last around two hours and finish at Battersesa Power Station tube station. Interested? You can find out more and book via Eventbite.

Christmas jumpers and Santa hats are strongly discouraged.

A Christmas tree stands in front of a construction hoarding. To the left, behind the hoarding is a partially built tall building with two large cranes stretching up into the sky.
