writing

I love words and have been writing creatively for almost as long as I can remember.

I am co-author with Joolz Sparkes of the poetry collection London Undercurrents, published by Holland Park Press in 2019. indoors looking out, a collaboration with artist Stephen Graham featuring haiku and tanka written during lockdown, was published in May 2020 by lower case press. My project found ~ flow ~ flux, commissioned by Wandsworth Council in 2022, resulted in a booklet of found text poems created by local residents from words and phrases found on walks around the Nine Elms area.

My short stories have appeared in magazines including Meniscus, Under the Radar and The Interpreter’s House, and in several anthologies. The Red Suitcase was published by Nightjar Press in 2020 and is included in Best British Short Stories 2021 (Salt Publishing). I was a judge for the Manchester Fiction Prize 2021. My novel Hearts on Ice was published by Serpent’s Tail in 2000.
