Open Spaces in Nine Elms walk

I’m excited to be leading a free walk on Saturday 3rd June for this year’s London Festival of Architecture, exploring open spaces in Nine Elms. In between all the tall, shiny new buildings and ginormous cranes, a new park is being created that will eventually form a pedestrian route from Vauxhall to Battersea Power Station, meandering through the new developments.

A view if the tops of several tall, angular apartment blocks, and two red construction crane, with blue sky and streaks of white cloud behind.

As well as outlining the route and features of this linear park, I’ll also highlight the area’s horticultural and industrial history, buried beneath our feet. The walk will start at Nine Elms tube station and take in Embassy Gardens, U.S. Embassy public realm, Nine Elms Park, Riverlight, and end at Battersea Power Station tube station. The walk, organised by Wandsworth Council, will start at 11a.m. and last around two hours. Free, but please register via Eventbrite.

Medium sized leafy tress have been planted in the ground between two sections of paving. They are fenced off by metal barriers. In the background are several tall buildings, the one closest to the trees is still under construction and covered isn scaffolding and protective material
